Queen Victoria's Journal - The birth of Princess Margaret of Prussia, 22nd April 1872

On 22nd April 1872, Princess Margaret of Prussia, daughter of Princess Victoria and granddaughter of Queen Victoria, was born at New Palace, Prussia.

"Left for London at ½ p. 10 with my 2 Children &c, driving from the station to Buckingham Palace in an open carriage. - Heard last night that dear Vicky had been safely confined at ½ p. 10 with a daughter, her 8th child! Good accounts this morning. - Saw Aunt Cambridge, whom I thought aged, but very kind & friendly. - Arthur came to luncheon, after which dressed for the Drawingroom. Went into the Throne Room a few minutes past 3. It lasted an hour; unfortunately I had a headache & felt quite bad at the end of the time. Of the family, Louise, Affie, Arthur, Leopold & Edward Weimer were there. - After having some coffee & resting, walked a little in the garden with Beatrice. It is looking so green & all the lilacs are coming out. - Janie E., & the 2 Maids of Honour dined."
