Her Royal Highness Princess Margaret Victoria Augusta Charlotte Norah of Connaught was born at Bagshot Park in Surrey on the 15th January 1882. She was the daughter of His Royal Highness Prince Arthur, Duke of Connaught, Duke of Strathearn and Earl of Sussex (son of Her Majesty Queen Victoria and His Royal Highness Prince Albert The Prince Consort) and Her Royal Highness Princess Louise Margaret of Prussia (daughter of His Royal Highness Prince Friedrich and Her Royal Highness Princess Anna Maria of Prussia, née Princess of Anhalt).
"The same dull, grey weather, but not cold. — Service at ¼ to 11, in the house, performed by Mr Prothero, who preached well. — Just before, had a telegram from Arthur, saying, he had sent for the doctor, & all was well. Felt in a state of agitation. Heard to my great joy, after 5, that Louischen had been safely confined with a girl (always girls! my 18th grand-daughter!) Thank God, both are doing well. — The 3 Ladies, Gen: Du Plat, Capt: Bigge, & Mr Sahl, dined. All in the house, pleased at the news. —"
