Queen Victoria’s Journal - The birth of Prince Sigismund of Prussia, 15th September 1864

“Affie got his birthday presents on a table in my room. — Saw Ld Russell, whom I found very reasonable & peaceable. — Just as I was dressing to go out heard that dear Vicky was safely confined this morning at 1 with a son, a fine strong child. Am very thankful that all is safely over. — Drove with Alexandrine & Louise to Alt na Guithasach, where we lunched, & rode on to the Dhu Loch, where we had a violent showers, & made us rather wet. However Alexandrine was in great admiration of the plan. Took by ¼ p. 7. We met Ernest & Affie in the road with the stalkers & ponies. — No one to dinner. Afterwards Alexandrine read. —“
