“A fine morning. – When I came to breakfast, Leopold told me Helen had been taken ill, & Dr Duncan sent for. Went over to see poor Helen & found her very suffering. Pss Waldeck lunched with us. All was going on well. I returned to Helen, & staid in the next room. — At ½ p. 6 in the evening, a fine little girl was born. Such an intense relief, & that all is going well. The child is fine & large, with a quantity of dark hair. I can scarcely believe that dear Leopold has got a child. -“
